Portfolio of Work

Work produced for Foundation Degree in Costume Construction for Stage and Screen Levels 4 and 5 and BA(Hons) in Costume Interpretation with Design Top up Level 6

I gained my foundation degree in Costume Construction for Stage and Screen in June 2014 and was accepted onto the top up course for a BA (hons) in Costume Interpretation with Design starting September 2014. I am now in the final few weeks of my course and have very mixed feelings about the future, I am excited about the opportunities now available to me in terms of employment and self employment but also sad to be leaving University as it has been such an enlightening process to have gone through. It has been hard work and exhausting, challenging but also so enjoyable, and an anchor whilst exploring my abilities and creativity, it will be strange after 3 years not to have that level of support available to me. Moving on and leaving something that has become very familiar to you is always a little sad but I am ready to embrace the next chapter of my life and hope that it will be as exciting and life enhancing as the previous 3 years have been. One thing I will say is the last 3 years have gone so quick.!!!!

My first blog.
I am now in the second year of my costume course and need to get my blog started. Last year went so quickly and I learnt so much. Every day brought lots of new experiences and I found it exciting but exhausting. Unfortunately I neglected to get going with my blog. This is my fourth week back in uni and already this year feels much calmer.
It is now time to get my blog started, so here goes.
WELCOME TO MY BLOG.

I'll start by introducing myself, my name is Diane Laidlaw, I am a mature student studying for a foundation degree in Costume Construction for Stage and Screen at Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) in Hartlepool in the North East of England. This is a small specialist Art and design college with sites in both Middlesbrough (Further Education) and Hartlepool (Higher Education). At 53 following a career in nursing and care work I have decided it is time for a complete change and I am ready for the challenge of returning to education and gaining a degree.
